My Kind Of Street Cafe: A Restaurant Review

By: Ria Jethi and Sohini Chowdhury

My kind of street Cafe is a really welcoming bistro in the heart of a swarming and noisy Amar colony. The moment you enter the cafe you are transported into another world amidst the hustle & bustle of the South Delhi neighborhood.  It’s a perfect place away from home for the young and for the old.

It’s the perfect restaurant to run to when you’re craving sumptuous food, it’s a cool hangout when you want to a break from college and want to have fun with friends, and it’s a peaceful and cozy place when you’re just looking for some privacy with a great book in hand – it’s one of those rare places that somehow fit into all of your plans. With its happy and colorful interiors, innovative menu, amazing food and deliciously affordable prices, it’s a favorite with any tummy and any wallet. The interiors are bright and inviting and the service is top-notch. Well priced and affordable – the portions are huge! The menu is totally out of the box and personalized, it lets you choose exactly what you want – the way you want.

It is exactly the place which people refer to, when they say – ‘lets chill?’ The decor is so homely that I’m sure, you will look at it and smile.Yellow walls full of post its, Photo frames saying – ‘vacancy’, and a great menu- this is your paradise if you are short on money and high on hunger

It is a Cafe that draws you back over and over again. But great ambiance, service, variety, and everything else aside, we personally just go back every time for the cheese momos and those gigantic spicy sandwiches. And of course, the brownie with ice cream and yes, the Oreo shake. *slurp*

Here are some of our favorites:

Sandwiches, Pizzas and Pastas: Make your own style is an incredible idea as it eliminates the problems of all customers having different tastes and preferences. Also, it allows the customer to determine the price of their order since they can handpick each of the individually priced ingredients. That paired along with high quality and a great selection of ingredients ensures that the customer cannot make any wrong choices here!

Cheese Momos: These perfectly cooked momos are indeed a special treat! The delicious melted cheese just oozes into your mouth as you bite into the momos. It is pure cheesy goodness and a must eat!

Cheese Chimta/ Salami Cheese Chimta: It is the greatest comfort food! Just a bite of this can just make your day and make your worries seem far far away! Pair it with a cup of their delicious coffee and its perfect for a rainy day!

Chocolate Oreo Shake: Although they have a great selection of mouth watering shakes, our favourite one is undoubtedly the oreo shake! The creamy shake heavily speckled with bit of oreos and chocolate is one of the best items on the menu, its positively delectable!

Mint Lime Fizz and Chillers: Perfect on a hot, sweaty summer day! My kind of street is a sanctuary for college students desperately trying to escape the dreaded Delhi heat with their excellent selections of chillers! These drinks perfectly complement their heavenly food items.

My Kind Of Brownie: Mmmm! It is such a gratifying desert and a perfect end to the meal! (Or rather the penultimate as the ultimate delightful aspect of the meal is the bill since its not at all heavy on the pocket- especially after the 15% student discount!)

We recommend this cafe for you if you have time on your hand and are in the mood for real quality food for a very reasonable price. Don’t forget your student ID cards to avail your 15% discount and definitely don’t forget to leave behind your comments on cute little post-its which will be put up on the walls!

  1. Went there this weekend at their Lajpat nagar place. The place itself was mesmerizing, the food was great too. Especially the Peach Iced tea.
